On the barricades! Installation in Berlin (Friedrichstraße corner Jägerstraße)

175 years ago, in the “March Revolution” of 1848, citizens in Berlin, as before in Paris, Vienna and many other places in Europe, demanded : democracy, social justice, freedom of the press, freedom of expression, a freely elected National Assembly composed of deputies from all German states and an independent judiciary.

The “Berlin Weekend of Democracy” commemorates the barricade fights in Berlin on March 18 and 19, 1848, which led to a (temporary) victory of the revolution.
